“Some people think luxury is the opposite of poverty. It is not. It is the opposite of vulgarity.”
Mia piuma was founded on the idea that in all facets of her life, a woman should have the finest options available. Enjoying luxury products in every category. In the past few months of brand development, competitive research and overall general market awareness, we have noticed the word “luxury” keeps resurfacing. While we have seen many products that we would consider true luxury goods, we couldn’t help but notice many brands and products that are misusing the buzz word as a descriptor for items that leave us lacking. With all the talk about luxury; luxury fashion, luxury hotels, luxury cars, luxury homes, it has us asking, What IS luxury?
Luxury products engage our emotions. The designs and materials excite our senses and appeal to our desire for beauty and elegance. The fine details become central to the product and consumers have come to expect a level of excellence from luxury goods that is far above the standard for common products. Even a casual shopper recognizes luxury goods as more expensive. But does the price indicate that the product is truly meeting a higher standard? It comes down to manufacturing and materials. Certain countries or even regions of the world give the perception of high quality manufacturing. Italian manufacturing of garments and leather goods is performed by artisans, trained and highly skilled in their craft. The quality from such manufacturing stands the test of time when treated with care and delicacy. Shoppers have come to not only respect these products, but expect them to be of a higher quality.
Luxury materials - silks, leathers, cottons, even hardware like zippers and buttons - are often developed after years of research and science. The end results may be softer, lighter, more durable or more colorfast. Mia piuma has chosen to source fabric from small, generations old, family factories in the Como region of Italy to further that reality of genuine luxury garments. We manufacture our sleep and loungewear here in America where we can keep a close eye on the workmanship and ensure its quality meets our standard of luxury. What can we say, we love luxury!
